Exchange of drivers licence

Regardless which country you have your license from, you are entitled to drive for 3 months in Norway, as a foreign national with an international license.

After the three months have passed, the following rules apply, depending on which country your license has been issued in.

Exchange of driving licenses from EU/EEA countries, UK, Switzerland, Japan and Greenland*;

Persons with a license issued from these countries, can exchange for a Norwegian driving license for the corresponding category.

*License for Category B from Greenland issued after January 1st 1995, can be exchanged for a Norwegian license.
